Available movies
Just thought I'd make a little post listing where Danny's movies can be found:

NetFlix has "Knock On Wood" & "On The Double" available for viewing via stream.  Other assorted videos are available to rent.

Amazon has quite a few of the movies as well on DVD & VHS.  eBay does as well.

TCM's shop has a few as well, just search for Danny.  Movies include "On The Double" (to be released in March), "A Song Is Born," "Knock On Wood," "The Inspector General," "On The Riviera," "Hans Christian Andersen" (out of print), "The Court Jester" (out of print), "Skokie," "White Christmas," "Here Comes Peter Cottontail," & "The Emperor's New Clothes."  "It's A Great Feeling" is also available on a Doris Day collection.

Warner Archive has "The Madwoman of Chaillot" available for download (rent or purchase).

Oldies.com also has some available, but be careful of items that are discontinued as they don't seem to purge their listings very often.  An item must have "Add To Cart," otherwise the item will simply be saved for later (if it becomes available).

There's plenty of others as well, but these seem to be either the most readily available or simply the most selection.

During the month of December, I finally watched "White Christmas" for the very first time.  And thus, I was shown the greatness that is Danny Kaye.  Since then, I've dug & found most all of his movies either from DVD, VHS, NetFlix, or download.  Even YouTube helped in some aspects.

Now, I'm in Kaye-Heaven.

Wonder Man and The Kid From Brooklyn
This may be old news but...Hulu has Wonder Man and The Kid From Brooklyn available to watch in their entirety. Hulu usually has great quality vids, so if you haven't seen either of these (or haven't seen them in a while) Hulu would be a great place to check them out.
Link to Hulu
I will be watching The Kid from Brooklyn as soon as I update my Flash player ;)

Kaye Movies On YouTube
Several hard to find Danny Kaye films have been up in high quality on YouTube for a while, just in case you don't know. Huilifoj has posted The Man From the Diner's Club, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Wonder Man among others...even Danny as Hook in Peter Pan! Watch out for Danny overload though :) Also, you download the Danny Kaye radio show from Internet Archive free.

White Christmas in Central Florida
For any Danny Kaye fans in the area of Central Florida, I thought I'd pass along this item: a free outdoor screening of "White Christmas" is scheduled in Winter Park this Friday, December 4.

See these pages for more information:

(If that's short notice to make plans for, I should mention that if the movie is rained out, it will be rescheduled for Thursday, December 17--and with a few days of bad weather in the forecast, that may be a possibility.)

Have any of you tried Danny Kaye recipes?
Ok, you probably already know that Danny Kaye was quite the cook. If you google "Danny Kaye recipes" you'll actually get several alleged recipes for dishes Kaye actually made. These include: Danny Kaye's Lemon Pasta, Danny Kaye's Poached Chicken Salad, and Danny Kaye's Chinese Stir Fry. I've never tried any of these recipes. Have any of you? It seems like it would be a fun thing for a Danny Kaye night...make one of his recipes and watch a movie, especially if you have fellow fans to join you. Then again, maybe I'm just geeky [nervous laugh].

Me and the Colonel
If anyone here can play videos in PAL format, I have a copy of the rare Danny Kaye movie Me and the Colonel (with a bonus of "The Best of Danny Kaye") to sell. I obtained it from someone in Europe, who apparently didn't realize the fact that most American VCRs don't play PAL tapes. :/ Since it's unwatchable for me, I'm looking to recoup my loss on it.

Email me at webmaster (at) jordanna.net if interested.

Danny Kaye Yarn

I know this is wierd, but thought I'd post this here in case there were any spiners or knitters in this community.  I spun up a Danny Kaye yarn tonight.

Danny Kaye's technicolor hair!  Not sure if the grey is a black and white movie, B&W photo or a scratchy grey wool suit.   Thanks Nick for snazzing up the photo!  It's still not washed and hung (well, it is now, but I'm too impatient to wait till tomorrow to take photos. So, tomorrow the kinks will be gone but the red curls will remain.

"A Kid From Brooklyn; The Danny Kaye Story"
So I just discovered that apparently there is a small-run musical tribute to Danny Kaye. Unfortunately it's in Florida, and as I am in Maryland, the trip is a bit out of my league. It occurred to me that someone here might be close enough to appreciate it. My understanding is that while the play itself isn't spectacular, the actor, Brian Childers, who plays Danny Kaye, does a superb job.

If you go, let me know what you think!

Yay! Danny Kaye!
Hey there! Oh the places LJ can take us! LOL! An LJ'er posted to food_porn with one of jordannamorgan's icons and I actually squeaked out loud. See, I thought I had no idea that there were other people that loved Danny Kaye as much as I did. So I checked out that users icon info, and found out it was by jordannamorgan, and found this community by checking out HER info! She's done some really awesome work!!

I discovered Danny Kaye completely by accident. I was at home, severely depressed many years ago as I had recently been broken up with by my girlfriend. I was flipping channels and saw a man dancing around in green tights. At first I thought it was maybe Erol Flynn's Robin Hood, but I soon discovered to my delight it was something else; something wonderful. As I'm sure you all know, I had discovered The Court Jester. And thanks to Danny Kaye I laughed for the first time in weeks. I was amazed by the versatility of the main character. He could sing, he could dance, he could act, he could pantomime, was there anything he couldn't do (not really, I would later discover)?! Unfortunately, I'd missed the introduction, so it took a great deal of digging to actually discover what the name of this wonderful movie was or the name of that amazing actor.

But I eventually did, and it would later become something I would watch over and over again. Later, I discovered The Inspector General, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Hans Christian Andersen, A Song Is Born and many other wonderful examples of Danny Kaye's brilliance. I would later show The Court Jester to a girl I was interested in and if she didn't love it then she obviously wasn't the one for me! XD

So, anyway, yeah... Yay Danny Kaye!! :)

The Best of Danny Kaye

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that I've made 146 screencaps of The Best of Danny Kaye DVD (which is phenomenal, btw ;)).
I know there's quite a few Danny Kaye fans here, so behind the cut is a link to the album as well as a few samples.
Some of the guest stars include Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, and Lucille Ball.
I'm still trying to master the art of screencapping, so they're not that great, but it's Danny, so who cares?

New pics of Danny Kaye on IMDB?
Hello all you wonderful people,
I just dropped by to ask if anyone has seen the photos of Danny Kaye on imdb.com? I don't recall them being there before. I can't snag them; the imdb people must have thought of this, but check out the link. Some are very nice, and I can't recall seeing most of these before. They are under the photo gallery.

Look for yourselves, I may be wrong.

Much love.
